Title: Detroit is not in Canada, 12.04 Status in tzdata package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: I installed Ubuntu 12.04 over the weekend. When it asked me to select my location or time zone or whatever, I selected Detroit, Michigan, Eastern Time Zone. When I booted up, I saw that my locale settings were for Canada, rather than the US. So, I had Canadian date format, units, and currency. I changed it to US per this askubuntu thread: http://askubuntu.com/questions/133011/set-default-language-to-english-us-in-12-04 Not sure where this geography information is stored, but this fixed the problem for me after the fact.
