The black screen in the photo is not a crash, but it certainly looks related to failing to resume from suspend.
Let's start by checking for actual crashes. Next time the problem happens, please: 1. Run these commands: journalctl -b0 > journal.txt journalctl -b-1 > prevjournal.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 2. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 3. If step 2 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Tags added: nvidia suspend-resume ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => nvidia-graphics-drivers-560 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-560 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2097839 Title: Nvidia Crash when restart after Waking Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-560 package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hi team, I'm not sure that I've cathegorized correctly this topic, sorry in advance. So, I'm facing a crash issue when waking up my PC which is probably comming from the GPU. when the crash occures I'm facing 2 situations: - lock screen is appearing but after logging the desktop is crashed - black screen with this error (+ photo in attached file) : [16717.670182] [drm:nv_drm_connector_getmodes [nvidia_drm]] *ERROR* [nvidia drm] [GPU ID 0x00000100] Failed to get mode at modeIndex 2 of NvKmsKapiDisplay 0x00000100 I'm using a nvdia GTX 1080ti with proprietary from nvidia for gaming (that part works fine) I've noticed that the non proprietary don't create crash when waking up however gaming performance are not good.
