Spending more time on it, the issue is linked to udev rules introduced between
21/12 and 20/01
(time frame between my 2 system update).

concerned rule: /etc/udev/rules.d/64-ext4.rules
behavior: ext4 not mounted on purpose

I guess this is written somewhere and normal on Ubuntu server, weird on
desktop without popup notification.

Title:
RPI4 with Ubuntu 24.10: data disk not mounted after reboot

Status in policykit-1 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Updating (as regularly) my RPI4 this morning result with a data disk not
mounted.
The system is composed by RPI4+USB SSD boot disk+USB Self powered HDD

Behaviour: the data disk is recognized during boot (dmesg fine about
sdb1) when when login my session the disk is not mounted as usual in
/media/$user/$disk. Manual mounting by CLI or Disk works fine but I
encounter some error with polkit. Once the disk is mounted all run
  fine up to next reboot
