This problem no longer appears to occur with Compiz 0.9.12 or later and
Unity 7.2.0 or later. Assuming it got fixed somewhere along the way
over the last 4 years.

Bug description:
I just finished installing 11.04 on my desktop. After installing the
applications i need from the software center, including the CCSM, then
i opened the CCSM and enabled the Desktop Cube, after i clicked it it
ask if i want to disable the Desktop Wall, which i acknowledged. Then
it ask if i want to enable the OpenGL or something, i also
acknowledged it. Then suddenly the Panel, sidebar, and all the window
menu just disappeared, i tried to restart but the menus, are still
missing..
