cairo 1.17.8 has an unfortunate regression reported at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo/-/issues/806 ("Font Family corrupted string on export"). Hopefully, Ubuntu 23.10 can have this bug fixed by the time of its official release.
