Hello, I am experiencing this issue (at least as far as I can tell) on
Xubuntu 22.04.1

Autologin will work correctly in a VM, but when the image is cloned onto
certain hardware, the autologin will fail randomly.  On a Dell Optiplex
7070, it was failing about 20% of the time, on a HP EliteDesk 800 G5, it
would fail 99% of the time.

(When I say "autologin fails", I mean that it would prompt for a
password on boot.)

I can confirm that the Intel i915 module is being used.
