*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1901470 ***
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901470

I've decoded your monitor's EDID data (see attached) and it only
supports the detailed modes 3440x1440 or 2560x1080. Not "2560x1440",
although you can fake it with xrandr as you say. So if that's the only
issue then this bug is invalid.

If you find 3440x1440 or 2560x1080 are missing by default however, then
this is kernel bug 1901470.

       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  Second Display Never Supports Proper Resolution

Status in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have tried cables, drivers, upgrades --no matter what I do I cannot
  get Ubuntu to recognize that my 32" UHD LG display supports 2560x1440.
  I can work around it with `cvt` and `xrandr` but this is tedious and
  is not saved across sessions, and xorg.conf is no longer a possibility
  (bricks the system).
