Hi jitmanyu, Thanks for taking the time to report the bug. However, I can't seem to reproduce this in a Focal container. I tried to install openssh-client (and openssh-server) as well, tried to play with it for a while, removed it, re-installed; then purged it, re-installed again, but can't seem to reproduce the issue that you're quite facing?
I wonder if this is an issue because of some local config issue or something? If so, you can find assistance here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community. And I also wonder if simply reinstalling the openssh-client will fix the problem you're facing? cf: apt reinstall openssh-client or equivalent? However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to "New" again. Thanks, again! ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928338 Title: package openssh-client 1:8.4p1-5ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration Status in openssh package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: ef ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.04 Package: openssh-client 1:8.4p1-5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.8.0-53.60-generic 5.8.18 Uname: Linux 5.8.0-53-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu65 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown Date: Thu May 13 18:03:15 2021 DuplicateSignature: package:openssh-client:1:8.4p1-5ubuntu1 Setting up gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons (20.04.0+git20200908-5build1) ... dpkg: error processing package openssh-client (--configure): package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should ErrorMessage: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-12-30 (134 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200731) Python3Details: /usr/bin/python3.9, Python 3.9.4, python3-minimal, 3.9.4-1 PythonDetails: N/A RelatedPackageVersions: ssh-askpass N/A libpam-ssh N/A keychain N/A ssh-askpass-gnome N/A SSHClientVersion: OpenSSH_8.4p1 Ubuntu-5ubuntu1, OpenSSL 1.1.1j 16 Feb 2021 SourcePackage: openssh Title: package openssh-client 1:8.4p1-5ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1928338/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
