It looks like there's multiple causes of these symptoms, the easiest way to trigger the backspace issue is in bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net /ubuntu-keyboard/+bug/1385518 I haven't marked it as a duplicate though, as it doesn't relate to other stuck keys, which look to be a problem with touch detection lower down in the stack.

It only went away when the keyboard was re-opened after the screen locked and was unlocked and I tapped another field.
