This crash type is the most common on focal. However, it has been significantly less frequent lately.
Compare this: https://errors.ubuntu.com/?release=Ubuntu%2020.04&package=ibus&from=2020-09-08&to=2020-09-15&version=1.5.22-2ubuntu2.1 with this: https://errors.ubuntu.com/?release=Ubuntu%2020.04&package=ibus&from=2020-10-11&to=2020-10-18&version=1.5.22-2ubuntu2.1 The first one, from a week in September, reports 3771 occurrences, and the latest week there were 527 occurrences. At September 15 the SRU in bug #1893551 was moved to focal-updates, i.e. we stopped letting im-config set "GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus" on GNOME desktops. I can't safely say that this correlation is not a coincidence; indeed there have been other SRUs which may have an impact. OTOH, if I look more closely at the last 10 crashes from the latest week, I see that in all those cases im-config was not yet upgraded to version 0.44-1ubuntu1.2, i.e. GTK_IM_MODULE was still set. * Wondering about the users' package update habits * So there is at least a strong indication that not setting "GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus" on GNOME helps a lot. As regards groovy the number of total crashes is very low so far: https://errors.ubuntu.com/?release=Ubuntu%2020.10&package=ibus&from=2020-10-11&to=2020-10-18 Several of those are from Budgie users, and I think there are issues with ibus on Budgie which need separate attention. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879958 Title: /usr/libexec/ibus-ui- gtk3:11:__vfprintf_internal:buffered_vfprintf:IO_validate_vtable:__vfprintf_internal:___fprintf_chk Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding ibus.
