I have had this issue in Artful, and when commented on the old bug, I was asked to raise a new one instead. I waited to see if Bionic fixed it for me, but it does not seem to work still. So! Steps to reproduce: 1. enable bluetooth on computer and switch on the headset. 2. pair and connect the headset 3. go to settings to switch headset to HSP/HFP mode to enable mic 4. save and close window. Expected behaviour: 1. mic should be enabled and headset should be usable to attend calls on laptop. Behaviour in error: 1. Headset profile switches back to A2DP and mic is not enabled. I am using a generic bluetooth headset on a fresh updated Kubuntu 18.04 bionic with plasma DE.
