Title:
[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] Headphones work, Speakers don't

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
To begin with, sound worked nicely (through Speakers) with Ubuntu
12.04 LTS. The laptop is an aging Fujitsu P7210.

With (X)ubuntu 13.04 I can only get sound through headphones. Speakers
don't give any sound, even though selected as output from the "Volume
Control" application. The automatic selection of output based on
headphone jack does work (plug headphone -> Headphone is automatically
  selected in Volume Control app).

Alsamixer command line application shows separate controls for
Headphone and Speaker, where the Speaker is the only one which has a
volume bar. Strangely the volume of the headphones can be controller
in alsamixer from the "Line" volume. Muting/unmuting Speaker from
alsamixer has no effect, nor does using it's volume slider.

I have tried to select intel hda audio model (auto, basic, fujitsu) in
alsa module configuration (/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf), but that
doesn't seem to have any effect at all.
