  headphones not working ubuntu 10.04

Bug description:
  when I do the testing, it works, I can hear the sound alternate, but
  when I play a soundtrack like in youtube or play any movie or anything
  of that sort, it doesn't work.  In some occassions, i hear crackling
  noise.
