Title:
Sound is lost on interrupt in an application

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  UBUNTU 10.04.1 LTS
  wine 1.2

This is not a wine problem. When running a program (SimCity 4) with
wine using the ALSA driver for sound, sound is lost if there is an
interrupt, for example, a context switch (ALT+TAB) even if there is no
other context. winehq is aware of this, and recommends discontinuing
the use of the PCM interface in ALSA. Reconfiguring wine to use the
OSS driver solves that problem except that when the switch occurs, the
sound system becomes muted, and the general level is reduced to nearly
  off.

This requires a switch to another desktop to reset the problem because
the application runs full screen. A nuisance, and it should not
  happen.

I am not sure that this is an ALSA-driver problem. There must be a
switching mechanism that is behaving badly. The sound controls should
be unaffected by changing to the secondary driver during the load of
  the application.
