Uninstalling gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 and gstreamer1.0-fluendo-mp3 on
14.10 solved the issue for me. Why is this issue still present? Is it
really just a few people who experience it?!

Title:
  strange wistle in playback

Status in “gst-fluendo-mp3” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Affects Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04
about a day after i installed 13.10 i noticed a odd whistle in some of my
songs
i thought it was the speakers at 1st so i changed them, then i thought it was
the driver in the kernel then i thought it was my desktop i managed to
reproduce it on my laptop analog, desktop nvidia hdmi and analog audio
downgrading this package to 0.10.15.debian-1ubuntu1 solved this issue on 13.10

This is noticeable on several songs at sever points, the attached 2 second
clip has the most noticeable issue i have found.
hopefully this attachment will not break any copyright rules
