I second this request. In contrast to your objection/warning, static builds of current versions of gdk-pixbuf (and gtk3) work very well in my experience. But they do not make much sense unless the loaders are also linked statically. AFAIK, this requires one to configure gdk-pixbuf with
./configure (..) --disable-modules --with-included- loaders=ani, icns, pcx, ras, tga, png, pnm, wbmp, xbm, xpm, qtif, bmp, gif, ico, jpeg, tiff, jasper So in the worst case debuild would have to compile the package twice. I believe that this can be circumvented with a simple patch though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gdk-pixbuf in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1101157 Title: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev unusable for static builds Status in “gdk-pixbuf” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: The package does not provide a static version of library.
