Public bug reported: Installation details:
Ubuntu 19.04 alsa-base: Installed: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 Version table: *** 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 500 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Expected behaviour: Expected a 'Speaker - Built-in Audio' option in my Audio settings. Actual behaviour: Seems the 'Speakers - Built-in Audio' playback device is not available in my settings. Instead there is 'Headphones - Built-in Audio' which obviously shouldn't exist. When actual headphones are attached, the do not playback either. Playback only works when connected via bluetooth or HDMI, but there are extra options, that do not work... not sure what it is detecting, as there is only one HDMI output. I followed this document to debug myself: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting. However, the second step works fine when connected via bluetooth or HDMI, as stated before. I have tried booting the Live USB, and audio works perfectly fine here, so this is not a hardware issue.
