The headphone port and microphone work fine, however. Following the instructions in the comment section on this article, I grabbed the contents of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf from Chrome OS and pasted it into /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf on Ubuntu, but unfortunately that still didn't fix my problem. http://chromeos-cr48.blogspot.com/2011/04/ubuntu-1104-for-cr-48-is- ready.html It might be worth noting that sound through the internal speakers has worked before - initially it was running fine with Ubuntu 11.04 until there was a backports update to alsa, and since I did a dist-upgrade to Oneiric for testing, I haven't been able to get sound working through the internal speakers again.
