This bug has been marked "wontfix", citing a design request. But the design request only indicates background color and the icon asset to use, it does not describe the disposition of the icon box, which is part of what James is commenting on. Can someone from design confirm that this is actually what it's meant to look like? FWIW I've been using the phone for a bit now without really looking at the icon, but now that James has drawn my attention to it it does look rather strange to me.
I'm attaching a screenshot taken with ubuntu-emulator, to show the icon in question in case not everyone here has seen it. ** Attachment added: "Ubuntu_logo.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1351423/+attachment/4238430/+files/Ubuntu_logo.png ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Won't Fix => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351423 Title: [Dash] icon significantly different to that on other platforms Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: Won't Fix Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The dash icon is shown as an orange square (with very hard straight edges btw) with the Ubuntu logo within. This seems odd since it is so markedly different to the dash icon on desktop systems ("the swirl").
