I tried it recently with xubuntu 18.04.1 and the gui still crashes. I uninstalled gdebi and went back to dpkg from the command line. I will try again on the next LTS release.

I'm not sure what is going on. I right click an application (like the official release debi of Teamviewer) and gdebi starts up, begins its scan, then terminates. I think it is failing during its scan for dependencies. I tried reporting this using ubuntu-bug in a terminal but that didn't work so I am not sure how to get all the required supported applications. Is anyone else experiencing this crash? Suggestions? I don't use gdebi much but it is more convenient that firing up a terminal window and typing dpkg everytime I want to install a package.
