Title:
gedit hangs when opening files with very long lines

Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Opening the attached file using gedit 3.4.1 causes gedit to hang. The
file opens correclty using medit and LibreOffice Calc.

This file comes from a data logger that uses fixed length files,
padding the unused area at the end of the file with null characters.
