  USB printer only available to root

Status in cups package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

  I expect to be able to print via usb from my Gnome desktop logged in as 
'john'.
  However my printer does not show up.

  When I open a terminal console, I do....

  Finally.. I did a Vaniilla install and reproduced this problem
  instantly before the first patches arrived and after the Vanilla
  install was fully patched.
