There were a number of bugs reported in the 16.10 timeframe about this
issue. I believe these have all been resolved as of Ubuntu 17.04, so am
closing this bug fix-released. If you are still seeing issues with
systemd-resolved in a currently supported release of Ubuntu, please
reopen this report.

Title:
Domain names not resolving on bootup

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I just installed Ubuntu 16.10 on my System76 Pangolin Performance
laptop. After bootup, connecting to the internet via a WiFi
connection, both Chromium and Firefox failed to resolve any domain
names (cnn.com, google.com, etc.) I entered into the browser. I at
first thought that my internet connection was not working, so I opened
up a terminal and entered "ping 8.8.8.8" and was surprised to see that
the ping attempt was successful. However, when I tried to ping a
domain name (google.com), I was not successful.

I then entered "sudo service systemd-resolved restart" and the problem
  was resolved.

This is a recurring problem. Every time I start up my laptop I have to
restart systemd-resolved or else both the browser and command line are
  unable to resolve domain names.
