We'll never see a fix in Unity8, so we'll never know if it also requires
any change to Mir.
As we can not reproduce the problem in any current project: I declare
this bug invalid.

Bug description:
ubuntu 17.04 unity8
install vlc, launch it from app drawer or launcher
try to use the menu, the menu shows for a split second and closes
try to right click on vlc, here it just crashes/restarts unity8
