To replicate: play any file that contains more than a minute or two of audio in any application. Every minute or two: the previous 1/4 second of audio will play again instead of what is meant to be playing. As well as upgrading to oneric I have also changed the desktop environment to xfce4 so this issue may or may not be due to xfce4 and pulseaudio failing to work perfectly together.
