pulseaudio distorts VLC audio

clean sound turns into distorted scratchy sound randomly :(

Bug description:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
I will be listening to music doing whatever and then the audio will go
to crap as said in the title.
I thought this was system wide but audio from youtube seems to be ok,
while in vlc it's still bad, then this happened:
Apr 8 19:27:05 ikt-ubuntu kernel: [20193.327500] compiz[1886]:
segfault at 61 ip 00007f4b400d21e5 sp 00007fff896265b0 error 4 in
libnux-0.9.so.0.936.4[7f4b3ff47000+1d5000]
And now the audio is working fine in vlc.
This only affects VLC, and strangely enough, after compiz crashed, the
audio fixed itself.
How does compiz affect pulse audio affect VLC?
