Ok, I had to manually remove the files as they were added.. after that, it worked as intended.
Funny thing is, all solutions provide here say that you need to enable the removal of unused dependencies by setting this: `Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies "true"` Problem is.. I already had this set in my `/etc/apt/apt.conf.d /50unattended-upgrades`.. This is broken, design or not.. it IS a bug.. how can we fix this permanently? While you and I might know that we need to watch partition space, many of the people we have installing think that a windows disk is a disk and not a partition, education is probably the key - but in the meantime support venues keep needing to deal with the fact the partition is too small and/or old kernels are not purged as new ones install.
