Your problem is not a CUPS bug but a problem with the proprietary driver from Brother. See these lines in error_log:
D [28/Sep/2016:16:08:11 +0100] [Job 50] /usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_DCP1610W: 103: /usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_DCP1610W: /opt/brother/Printers/DCP1610W//cupswrapper/brcupsconfig4: not found D [28/Sep/2016:16:08:11 +0100] [Job 50] //opt/brother/Printers/DCP1610W//lpd/filter_DCP1610W: 60: //opt/brother/Printers/DCP1610W//lpd/filter_DCP1610W: /opt/brother/Printers/DCP1610W/lpd/rawtobr3: not found D [28/Sep/2016:16:08:11 +0100] [Job 50] PID 9245 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_DCP1610W) exited with no errors. First there is the "/opt/brother/Printers/DCP1610W//cupswrapper/brcupsconfig4: not found". Are you sure you installed both parts of Brother's driver? The LPD driver and the CUPS wrapper? If not, install the missing package. If you have everything correctly installed as described by Brother, this is a bug in Brother's driver packages. Another bug is that the filter /usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_DCP1610W exits with a zero exit status after having failed. This tell CUPS that the job succeeded and so CUPS removes the job from the queue assuming that it got correctly printed. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to cups in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620038 Title: Printing job is "completed" but nothing gets printed Status in cups package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: OS: Xubuntu 16.04.1 Printer Device: Brother DCP1610W My printer is not working on my desktop. I've installed both drivers under "printer" in the following link: http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=dcp1610w_eu_as&os=128 The scanner works perfectly fine. I should mention that I've it working on my laptop with exactly the same drivers and OS. After clicking on "Print", the job status is "completed" but nothing gets printed. I can't print test pages. Any idea what might be happening and I should I go about fixing this?
