Identical process and identical failure when trying to connect the Epsom printer in Mint. Means it is in the driver. What is needed is some defensive programming in the installer which will prevent freezes in bad situations, and inform the user about what happened so that some fix can be requested from the driver provider.

Driver download box opened and I started it. After authentication, the box froze, progress indicator stopped moving, box would not respond to CANCEL or X(for quit). Tried it three times, no difference.
