Having tried many, many solutions -something seems to work! Wait for the OS to boot up completely and then connect the displaylink Docking station attached to monitor! (Easier method is to hook up the docking station and the monitor on same power source and switch ON after the system has booted up!) But the resolution on the 3rd monitor is a low 1280X1024 on Linuxmint 18 Sara - 64bit - Cinnamon edition.
