Public bug reported:

When trying to upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04 the upgrade process stops
complaining about too little diskspace. The hint to run 'aptitude clean' does
not help, because the diskspace is blocked by several old kernels which are not
affected by the cleanup.
At least the hint should be extended to give an unexperienced user a chance to
run the update without help of a more experienced user.

** Affects: apt (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
