When I disconnect and connect to the network , the icon turns back to the "Wired Connection" icon.

I connect to a "Wireless connection", provided by my hostel. It devices connected to the wireless connection have to access the web through a proxy. Everything works fine, and I am able to use access the web without any hindrance. But the Network status icon shows that I am connected to a "Wired Connection" , although I have connected to a "Wireless Connection". It doesn't show any name of the connection it is connected to, also when network symbol is pressed it neither show the available wireless connection nor the Wireless connection it is connected to. When I see through System Settings it shows I am connected to a "Wireless Network", which is shown in the screen-shot. I do not know why the icon shows I am connected to a "Wired Connection". How do fix this problem ? Now I am unable to determine the Strength of the wireless connection easily,as I have go to System Settings each time to see the strength of the connection.
