Hello Dawid, or anyone else affected, Accepted ubuntu-release-upgrader into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /ubuntu-release-upgrader/1:16.04.14 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Regression potential: Any bug here might potentially break package installation or upgrades completely. That said, the fix is quite obvious and has been in production in xenial for a week.
