You have been subscribed to a public bug: I just installed ubuntu 16.04 on a laptop, and after this, I had to install b43 firmware to get wifi working (as expected). When this was done - I could not see any available wireless networks in NetworkManager applet, so I had to install wicd-gtk - to be able to choose a wireless network and connect to it.
Now it connects fine - but nothing is shown in nm-applet my taskbar, and DNS isn't set correct (it seems it isn't set at all), when it gets a DHCP address. (dhcp and wifi works fine on my ubuntu 14.04 machines). I tried running nmcli dev show - and it does not show any DNS information at all. when I switch resolv.conf to use 8.8.8.8 as nameserver - dns works fine. It feels as if I'm missing something for network-manager, to make it properly handle wireless, and that wicd-gtk doesn't do the job exactly right ? ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- 16.04 beta: dns not set automaticly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573420 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
