ok, I've walked through all the issues and what's left for unity8 is * the notifications text being dark on dark (there's a linked branch for this) * the launcher quicklist going transparent on pressed
The messaging menu is not a bug. Some changes are expected to happen on theme changes. The TextFiel Component does now have black background on the dark theme so that's what it is now.
