Actually this is fixed now in unity8, it's messaging app itself that
must be unfocusing the field.

The same works for the notes app:

* open notes app
* edit an existing note or add a new one and type something into it (otherwise 
it closes the note and unfocuses)
* left swipe to dash
* tap notes
* keyboard back up
