Actually this is fixed now in unity8, it's messaging app itself that must be unfocusing the field.
The same works for the notes app: * open notes app * edit an existing note or add a new one and type something into it (otherwise it closes the note and unfocuses) * left swipe to dash * tap notes * keyboard back up ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Changed in: unity8 Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Also affects: messaging-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - seeing this in build 160 + seeing this in build rtm13 - open messaging-app - open a message and click in send field to display keyboard - left edge swipe to return to shell - click on messaging-app in Apps scope Expected result: - messaging-app displayed with keyboard visible Actual result: - messaging-app shown with blank area where keyboard used to be (see screenshot) + + The same steps work with notes app, see comment #2. ** Description changed: seeing this in build rtm13 - open messaging-app - open a message and click in send field to display keyboard - left edge swipe to return to shell - click on messaging-app in Apps scope Expected result: - messaging-app displayed with keyboard visible Actual result: - - messaging-app shown with blank area where keyboard used to be (see screenshot) + - messaging-app shown without focus or keyboard The same steps work with notes app, see comment #2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1350584 Title: keyboard not displayed after returning to app from shell Status in The Unity 8 shell: Fix Released Status in “messaging-app” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: seeing this in build rtm13 - open messaging-app - open a message and click in send field to display keyboard - left edge swipe to return to shell - click on messaging-app in Apps scope Expected result: - messaging-app displayed with keyboard visible Actual result: - messaging-app shown without focus or keyboard The same steps work with notes app, see comment #2.
