I am also experiencing this bug on my Dell OptiPlex GX-520. System seems mostly stable on this and I can get some work done. If I recall correctly this bug seemed to pop up when I was installing Gimp and then on another occasion when switching to Terminal from Chrome. Hopefully it will be resolved or at least a workaround put into place as I am not looking forward to a reinstall.
