Lightdm is the 'default' package, but your issue cant be reproduced with
gdm on a fresh installation; so possibly some borked
settings/profile/old symlinks on your system.

Bug description:
While login into GDM, I get the below message window (French) :

(translation : a program is still running)

(tr : no reply)

vérrouiller l'écran / annuler / se déconnecter
(tr : lock screen / cancel / logout)

If I click on "se déconnecter" (tr : logout) or wait a few seconds, I
login into my user environment.
If I click on "annuler" (tr : cancel), the screen is frozen (except
the mouse).
I need use a virtual terminal (CTRL-ALT-F1) in order to properly
reboot my computer.
