Upon exiting Android Studio editor, the icon would disappear. Creating the .desktop file manually, also solves the problem only partially: upon clicking on the Android Studio icon, yet another Android Studio icon would appear in the bottom of the Unity bar -- see screenshot attached (look at the icon with a green calipers).
