"Jakey" is one of the reasons I am currently running 5Gbps of Tor relays/exits, and without some of his talks I wouldn't be here right now reading this. The current cost of my operations associated to Tor (running relays, sponsoring others etc) is approximately 6,000 Euro per month (and rising), not counting the time I have personally spent on assisting where I can in Tor Project. On top of this, the narrative of a person who genuinely understands the issues at hand brings greater factual information to the public who do not have a good grasp of it. Tor needs people who can appeal to the public and get Mr and Mrs Average involved, the uninteresting (assuming such a category exists in the eyes of those unfriendly to anonymity) traffic through the Tor network is what protects those who depend on it for their lives and for the purposes of freedom, privacy and democracy. So let's assume we could hire some "half drunk russian coders" instead of Mr Appelbaum, I very much doubt me and many others who do what we can financially and politically would be around right now. - -T [Apologies to everyone else having to read this trash, one needs to let off some steam from time to time] On 06/09/2014 05:24, bm-2cu3w6ptnehgt249n69qkxueashdyvc...@bitmessage.ch wrote: >> I'm still watching it, but it seems relatively balanced, and >> features interviews with Bruce Schneier, Jacob Applebaum, Julian >> Assange, Tim Berners-Lee and so on. > > until the pathologically press starved JA twins appeared-desperate > for relevance-almost decent was the episode. beyond me why tor > continues to fund and care about these two. > > for jakey's nearly $100,000 salary, tor could hire fleet of > half-drunk russian coders to fix all bugs and flaws in the code. > would cut down on the amount of crapware produced by the same > drunks and do the world a favor. > > oh, I apologize. directly from his IGF egofest, jakey is journalist > now. this begs the next quandry: why is tor paying journalist? > journalist for who? ...and where are all the good stories in the > press... > > -BlackSam > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (MingW32) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJUCp3jAAoJEE2uQiaesOsLeqUP/jw2Save0yCoD1Tp88kIwjCK eq2jONasH4VMW1pABWuLQy+h9UDfRgTuWlTTi64Ikh9mBUn6Qv2J0C+Xe9kfWUEJ M/wXxdf0QLhH8WydJxBparZmHt/sSKHQFuLxgTbskCeOuFzxr2rtqo/Xgx8T17jW lMIqzffYVkvwj3N5sMreI7su99NqPF8b6fJmcZEm+/NyXzlZ9HR54QL6pFcowh3o 59e6dWeFHbuY44f2jsx7FKhKi8ZIPgHdg27JR+X1mZj8ih0Hr/4NgrGQMGh2+/zh RVc+i5IOIklULF9XwZvEc0+07rGpc0d1g3VG/7lkbqbHd8fK6zHO7Km1qY+hLzs7 xFfH/y59NMKPyESE5IVLc/kr/Lre27OnNiFJgL0uM8DKxAA7twV5DurLO2oRx2jw 13oBiVyRen6lyVXFMi2WyOOnfsN9ZBlBocqDjUHjx9PvK8zDzndVRxDxoH7RAU2P c4CIp1ObqA449BBkJgRL7nfTIlgiTZxGgSWEmjdxt6J8Z7MZn3Al8fXvmSWtdaSr cbNFDm8BKsECAKMEOAbU7pt1ir+LSOkjCvINN4gILiWc7eIFaj57b9LZTbLzLOW9 9zCD7lBR8UZghYka5fo1gG8JvrmV+rV1T08G2BNmnd9A5DwQZIyrbraBz5E5swhO AxdQP/zwjh/o+fGUDU5Q =Rrhd -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- tor-talk mailing list - tor-talk@lists.torproject.org To unsubscribe or change other settings go to https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-talk
