I went through the 2024-2025 Annual Report of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution
Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL) - formerly known as TANGEDCO -
The contents of the Report were shocking. The observations made by the
Auditors regarding the financial position of the company were quite scary.
TNPDCL (TANGEDCO) is operating with a fundamentally broken balance sheet
and a compromised financial reporting system.
It is heavily reliant on government support and borrowings (seeking to
increase borrowing limits to ₹1.27 lakh crore ) to sustain operations.
The "profit" reported is overshadowed by massive unrecorded liabilities,
audit qualifications, and a negative net worth exceeding ₹1 lakh crore.
Now, why am I interested in this Huge LOSS making company? - Because this
is where all the borrowings of Tamil Nadu Power Finance Corporation (Now
TNPFIDC Ltd) go.
Now, why am I interested in this company Tamil Nadu Power Finance ?
Because, about 2700 Crores of Temple Funds have been illegally invested in
this BBB- rated NBFC. The accounts of this company TNPFIDC is in a mess
The Commissioner of @tnhrcedept - at least now - should take steps to
ensure that funds of Hindu Temples are invested only in Scheduled Banks and
AAA+ rated NBFCs.
Instead the Commissioner is keeping quiet like a thief stung by a
scorpion and not replying to my notice dated 16.01.2026
