The Vinayagar Shiva Vishnu Temple is located in Tambaram,Chennai suburb. The 
Temple is located near the Tambaram (West) bus terminus,opposite to Tambaram 
Railway station.

Description:

The Vinayagar Shiva Vishnu Temple is dedicated to Sri Ganeshaas Selva 
Vinayagar, Sri Shiva as Sundareswarar, Divine Mother Shakti asMeenakshi Amman 
and Sri Vishnu as Kodanda Ramar.

Meenakshi Amman:

According to legend Goddess Parvati appeared out of thesacrificial fire of the 
Putra Kamesti Yagna performed by king MalayadwajaPandya and his wife 
Kanchanamalai. The girl who emerged from the sacrificialfire had three breasts. 
A divine voice told the king that the third breastwould disappear as soon as 
the girl meets her future husband. The king named the girl asTadaatagai. She 
was also known as Meenakshi, meaning fish-like eyes.Being the heir to the 
throne, Meenakshi was trained in all the 64 sastras. Asthe time of the 
coronation came near Meenakshi embarked upon a tour ofDigvijaya .  During this 
Digvijaya shecame to Kailasha (Abode of Shiva). 

The moment she looked atLord Shiva she was unable to fight, bowed Her head in 
shyness and Her thirdbreast disappeared. 

Meenakshi realized that Shiva was her destined husband andShe was an 
incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Both of them returned to Madurai andthe king 
arranged the coronation ceremony of his daughter followed by hermarriage with 
Shiva. The Meenakshi Temple at Madurai depicts the grand divinewedding of Devi 
Meenakshi with Sundareswarar (Lord Shiva).

Sri Vinaitheerthavinayagar Temple, located in the heart ofTambaram, is a 
renowned Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple issaid to have been 
built around the 6th century AD by Pallava kings. It isbelieved that the 
Swayambumurthy idol of Lord Ganesha was found under a"Vila" (Vagai) tree near a 
"theertham" (holy pond). Hence,the deity is known as "Vinaitheerthavinayagar".

The temple has significant religious importance and isconsidered a "Moola 
Sthalam" (original abode) of Lord Ganesha. It isbelieved that worshipping at 
this temple can remove obstacles, bestow successin endeavors, and grant boons 
to devotees.

Deity:

The main deity of the temple is Lord Vinaitheerthavinayagar.The idol is 
swayambumurthy, meaning it was self-manifested and not carved byhumans. It 
depicts Lord Ganesha with four arms, holding a "mooshika"(mouse), "ankusham" 
(elephant goad), "pasham" (noose), anda "modagam" (sweetmeat).
