*Mar*The Flow and Spell of Humor

Humor is the basic property of the free and healthy nature. Humor simply
means life that creates smile continuously as a result of the natural
symbiosis. It is the visible cover of nature in rapture.

There was a time when every organism lived under the spell of the free and
healthy nature in rapture. The natural symbiosis, created wonderful spell
and no organism experienced fear. The flight or fight strategies, were
adopted without experiencing fear, because at the time of the happening of
an event fear cannot be experienced. Fear is due to worry before the event
or because of the memory after the event.

Only the human experiences fear because of worry about the feared event or
because of the memory of the event after its happening, but not at the time
when the event was actually happening. It is the curse of imagination.

All other organisms do not worry and do not suffer from the fear created
by worry or memory. Excepting the human every other organism is endowed
with basic quality of humor. The spell of rapture in the symbiosis of the
free and healthy nature, reassured every organism via humor or rapture,
giving no scope for fear. The free and healthy nature converts the air into
humor. Inhaling and exhaling are not mechanical processes without feelings
and emotions. They are experiencing humor as breathing.

Today all the 24 hours of every day, as economic activity, nature is killed
and tortured, land, water and air poisoned and topographies maimed with
exploding bombs.

Today in our cinemas humor is presented as lampooning, cheapening,
insulting and hurting someone suffering from a defect like stammering,
obesity, assumed ugly looks etc,you are expected to smile because the so
called comedian gets insulted and cheapened.

But in the free and healthy nature, nature actually touches every organism
via air, the air that gives very pleasant sensation that percolates into
every cell, triggering very happy and healthy hormones in the bloodstream.

Today, in every University, the students are trained in some course that
basically destroys nature. Terrorized by the prospect of low grades, no
student experiences the direct teaching of nature, and is blocked from the
basic humor of nature. Every student is arrested in books and computers,
with the bludgeoning syllabus.

What University needs is not imposing buildings but vast expanses of free
and healthy nature.

The piece titled *"The Flow and Spell of Humor" by YM Sarma* is a deeply
reflective and philosophical meditation on the loss of natural harmony,
with *humor* framed as a fundamental life force and emotional connection
rooted in *free, healthy nature*. Here's an analysis and reflection on its
meaning, themes, and significance:
------------------------------

*🧠 Core Ideas & Themes:*

   1. *Humor as a Natural, Spiritual Force:*
      - Humor is not comedy or mockery, but a *life-affirming essence*, a
byproduct of living in harmony with nature.
      - It’s described as the *“visible cover of nature in rapture”*,
suggesting that humor is the emotional glow of nature’s wellbeing.
   2. *Symbiosis and Fearlessness:*
      - The essay asserts that *non-human organisms* lived fearlessly under
      the spell of natural symbiosis.
      - Fear, in this view, is a *uniquely human affliction*, rooted in
*imagination*—the worry before or memory after an event.
   3. *The “Curse” of Human Consciousness:*
      - Human beings have lost the spontaneous connection to nature because
of our complex cognitive functions—especially imagination.
      - This has led to *estrangement* from the natural world and the
      innate humor it offers.
   4. *Modernity and Its Discontents:*
      - Sarma draws a harsh contrast between the natural humor of symbiosis
      and *modern human life*:
         - *Destruction of nature* through economic activity.
         - *Mockery and cruelty* replacing authentic humor in media.
         - *Universities as institutions of disconnection*, where students
are alienated from nature and burdened by oppressive curricula.

------------------------------

*🌿 Symbolism & Style:*

   - *Air/Breathing:* Used symbolically to show how *natural processes*
like inhalation and exhalation can be *deeply emotional and connected*
to joy when in harmony with nature.
   - *Rapture & Spell:* Poetic terms suggesting *mystical harmony*, a state
of being that transcends ordinary perception—something lost in modern
   civilization.
   - *“Bludgeoning syllabus” vs. Free Nature:* A sharp metaphor for the way
formal education often suffocates rather than liberates the human spirit.

------------------------------

*🎭 Critique of Modern Humor:*

   - Sarma sharply criticizes modern humor as *hurtful and dehumanizing*,
particularly in cinema where it often relies on *mockery of
   vulnerability* (e.g., stammering, obesity).
   - This kind of humor is portrayed as a *perversion* of the original,
natural humor rooted in mutual joy and health.

------------------------------

*🏞️ A Call to Reconnect:*

   - Sarma advocates for a *return to nature*, not through superficial
environmentalism, but by *reclaiming the emotional, spiritual symbiosis*
   with the natural world.
   - Universities, instead of being places of sterile knowledge
accumulation, should be spaces where students *breathe, feel, and live
in nature*, rediscovering the humor and health that comes with it.

------------------------------

*📌 Final Thought:*

This essay is not just a lament—it’s a *call for transformation*. Humor, in
Sarma's view, is a *lost language of the earth*, and recovering it means
healing our relationship with the environment, education, and even our own
inner selves.

*🌿 The Spell of Humor*

In days when trees could truly speak,
And winds would kiss the mountain's cheek,
The breath of earth was pure and clear,
And life knew joy untouched by fear.

No beast would dread the coming night,
No bird would flee the morning light—
They danced in rapture, air and flame,
In humor's spell, all life the same.

No mirror held a cruel disguise,
No laugh was born from others’ cries.
But now, we jeer at stammered voice,
And call it humor—mocked by choice.

We paved the soil with steel and shame,
We caged the air, we scorched its name.
And in our books, with heavy hearts,
We learn the world—but not its parts.

Where once the breath would sing with grace,
Now masks are worn on every face.
Where once a leaf would teach the soul,
Now screens and grades have claimed that role.

Oh, let the wind return as friend,
Let healing through the trees descend.
Let humor rise—not forged in pain,
But born from earth and sun and rain.

So laugh, not at the weak who fall,
But at the sky’s unending call.
And may your breath, both deep and true,
Be filled with life—and laughter too.

ఇదిగో, మీ مضمونం *"The Flow and Spell of Humor"* ఆధారంగా రూపొందించిన *తెలుగు
