All of us have the same number of hours in our lives to spend, but
seldom do we think about the importance of time management and time as a
resource, which is very precious and must be spent with care. We live in an
amazing time where we are blessed with an abundance of information,
connections, and the internet, which is just a click away. But what we
still do not have in abundance is time, which is the most valuable thing
one possesses on earth. Time is something that determines both your present
and your future. If you want to achieve your goals and live your dreams,
managing time is the most important thing that one must learn and practice
sincerely. It is well said that time is a non-renewable resource. Once it
is gone, you cannot bring it back.

we all have heard of time management and how time, as a resource, is the
most precious. Time management is a very smart technique for organizing,
planning, and exercising conscious control over your value of time. It
enables one to work smarter and derive maximum results from the minimum
amount of time available. It helps you schedule your time depending on the
activities at hand so that all the work is completed in the provided time,
even if performed under pressure. The first principle of the importance of
time management is that one should know his or her priorities, obligations,
and schedule. When time is managed well, you will benefit in all areas of
life. Always remember to use the value of time wisely, as time is the most
limited resource.

What is the Importance of Time Management?

1. Do more in less time:

Whenever we have a lot of work at hand, we start to panic about how we will
be able to

complete all the tasks in the given period. Panic further delays our work,
and we end up

not being able to complete any task. In such a situation, it is always
advisable that you

first write down all the tasks that you must complete and then divide the
available time

between all the tasks. This will give you a fair idea of the work to be
done and the time

required to complete the particular task. It is one of the effective time
management

techniques associated with the importance of time management for students.

2 Achieve goals faster: When you take control over your valuable time,
your ability to

focus increases largely, which leads to increased efficiency. With greater
efficiency,

one can breeze through the task at hand like a pro and, therefore, achieve
goals at a

significantly faster rate. Therefore, one of the smarter ways to work hard
is to control

your time as a resource, plan, and stick to it. In this way, you will
achieve your

goal faster.

3 Boost confidence: When you manage your time with full dedication and
honesty,

there’s no chance for laziness or delays. Time management helps you become
more

disciplined and motivates you to finish your tasks on time. When you
complete your

work, you feel happy and positive, which makes you more confident.

4 Energy to achieve more: When you have planned out everything and you
have

achieved your goal, you feel confident. It inspires you to achieve more and
fills you

with the energy to set higher goals and attain them too. While preparing
for the

competitive exam, you may start preparing with just 4 hours of study
sessions.

However, when you become consistent, you see yourself growing
exponentially. You

notice that you can answer the questions with much confidence, with
significant growth

in your test marks. Earlier, while you thought it was impossible to study
for long, it only

took you a month to follow the techniques sincerely and study for 8–10
hours consistently throughout the exam preparation journey.

5 Make work fulfilling and life meaningful:

Every morning we wake up with loads of work in hand, but without any plan
or schedule,

it all seems meaningless. Making a plan and managing your value of time
with proper

time management provides meaning to your life, and doing the work makes you
satisfied.

6 More opportunities: If you can manage your time and complete the task
at hand,

you can utilize the remaining time to learn about other varied
opportunities. When

you work efficiently, you can also take a break between your studies,
complete a book

that you had planned to read, and go out with friends to refresh your mood.
The

more you learn, the more you will grow, both in your professional and
personal lives.

This time will give you that extra edge of reading a particular book, which
will help in

making your concepts stronger, and you may be able to attempt all the
questions in

the examination correctly.

7 Improves decision-making ability: Whether you use an app to manage
your time or

go old-school with making a list and doing your task, one extra benefit of
time

management is an improvement in your decision-making ability. Through time

management, you learn how to make tough decisions in the limited time
allotted to

you.

8 Become more successful: Unlike many others around you who are only
following

someone or another, the importance of time management gives you the power to

take control of your life and lead it your way. Time management is the key
to

success. As you keep managing your time day after day, you start making
tough

decisions, owning your time, and being able to complete your task with full
efficiency.

These characteristics are signs of being a perfect leader and a successful
person.

9 End Indecisiveness: Too many tasks to complete make one indecisive
about what needs to be completed first and what at last. While doing a
particular task, you are also not able to concentrate, wondering about the
other task that you have to complete. This indecisiveness leads to delays
in all the tasks, and you end up not completing either of them on time.
When you have managed and planned each task, you do not have to worry about
when to complete it; instead, you try to complete it in the time allotted,
as you know that later you have another task too.

10 Less effort: With less effort and problems, any question or topic
that you will sit

down to study will be a piece of cake for you. If you took an hour earlier
to complete a

particular topic, it will now take you only 20–30 minutes to complete the
topic with

greater concentration and less effort. No matter how you prepare for the
respective

topic or subject, a day comprises only 24 hours. We must make the most of
the asset

of time management with the best efforts from the competitive exam
aspirants’ end.

What is the best Time Management Method?

SMART goal for time management, you must understand the SMART goal as per
the set rules.

S: Specific: This signifies that the respective individual has focused
goals in their

professional life. Avoid having vague goals concerning competitive exams.
In this way, one needs to be specific to achieve the goal.

M: Measurable: If a student or professional sets goals to reach a
particular destination, it is essential to ensure that one can measure the
goals at the right time. This is because you must be able to set realistic
goals to achieve in the estimated period. The ‘M’ component is much more
significant in the case of preparation for highly competitive

exams.

A: Attainable: Most individuals, including government exam aspirants, often
set goals

that are beyond their existing capabilities. This step involves jotting
down the steps

required to achieve that particular goal.

R: Relevant: You need to have a real conversation with yourself regarding
reaching your targets in the best possible manner. One needs to make sure
that the goal aligns with the value set concerning the respective goal.

T: Timely – As a competitive exam aspirant, you must value time like
treasure. Treat every hour like a minute. You need to be serious and treat
time with respect. In this way, you will understand the importance of time
management for students.
