Ok, thanks. This is something I might take a look at myself. Looks like the firmware is failing to send an association request in this broken configuration (802.1x enabled but no wpa_supplicant running). Not that it would help much if it did send the frame, since you cannot get link anyway without the wpa_supplicant running. But a firmware crash is not pretty. You are in range of an eduroam AP when this happens?
