The inconsistency regarding the number of lines is the motivation behind [1], but that inconsistency on its own did not seem a good reason to make the change. The inconsistency regarding the packet length provides an additional reason to make it uniform, and now would be a good time to make this change in the master branch only, then it would appear in tcpdump 5.0 and it would be understandable that a major release changes something in a way that is not backward-compatible. If you prepare a pull request, please include a useful entry in the change log. 1: https://github.com/the-tcpdump-group/tcpdump/issues/810 -- Denis Ovsienko _______________________________________________ tcpdump-workers mailing list -- tcpdump-workers@lists.tcpdump.org To unsubscribe send an email to tcpdump-workers-le...@lists.tcpdump.org %(web_page_url)slistinfo%(cgiext)s/%(_internal_name)s
