Perhaps there's a compiler bug in FC4. Libpcap isn't crashing on other platforms.
If it's even crashing with "-O", then something's *really* broken, as that code isn't even supposed to be *executed* if "-O" is specified.

I'd advise you to talk to the Fedora team about this, and mention that this stuff *doesn't* crash on any other platform.
