maybe it'd be enough to rebuild samba without the compat headers installed.

The upstream bug is few months short of it's 2 year anniversary and this move 
will just get the samba developers to apply the patch in that upstream report 
and close that bug.

Andrew is there any reason the patch in that upstream report has not been 
applied and samba moved to use libsystemd.so?
It has been applied at least since the last summer.

If that's the case the samba community does not close open bugs as fixed, what a waste of time that must be for everybody anyway then the only concern ( thus far ) has already been fixed upstream.
