For vim I currently have
{pts/1}% cat .vimrc
set expandtab
C mode is already auto detected on Vim and default indentation rules
seem to match what you use. Of course, it could also be explicitly
added; I could send you additional settings.
The problem is, user need to enable exrc in ~/.vimrc or globally; it
is not on by default.
