I've rechecked with latest master branch (with and w/o your patch) and no changes. I've just found other "interesting things", some boot scripts are failing with "read-only filesystem". Quite a few (or a lot) of boot scripts are run before / is remounted read-write. The ones failing with this error are: bootmisc.service , mountnfs-bootclean.service, screen-cleanup.service and x11-common.service. But proc-sys-fs-binfmt_misc.automount is also failing.
